INDIVIDUAL SKILLS EHNANCEMENT

Individual Skills Enhancement is an exciting NEW initiative, which allows access to funds for training.

This program for youth, age 15 – 30 who are out of school, unemployed and have barriers to employment. Having barriers means things like having no transportation, no work experience, no grade 12 or a criminal record. This program is designed for individuals who are not eligible for employment insurance.

Individual Skills Enhancement can offer funding for up to 12 weeks of training, tuition and living allowance. It can fund participation in short-term courses that allow you to fill a gap in your education or learn a specific skill that can lead to a job.

The types of courses that could be eligible are:

  • General employment readiness
  • Literacy and numeracy enhancement
  • General Equivalency Diploma and upgrading
  • Pre-employment courses
  • Occupation-specific courses
