Introductions

Youth Habilitation Quinte Inc. (Youthab) is a community based non-profit organization established in 1983 to address gaps in service for youth. It is the only agency in the community that was initiated through the support of other community-based agencies and initially staffed with volunteers who were paid by these community partners. Youthab was incorporated in 1984.

Youthab helps individuals obtain and maintain the three essentials for quality of life: housing, good mental health and employment.

Under the Youthab umbrella of services are the Career Edge Employment Programs, the Community Mental Health Counselling Program and three very specific Housing Programs: the Transition Home Program, Cooperative Housing, and the Hastings Housing Resource Centre Program.

Career Edge provides a variety of employment services for both youth and adults. The Community Mental Health program provides a variety of counselling services for youth 16 to 24 years of age. The Transition Home Program and the Cooperative Housing Program provide supportive housing for young people 16 to 24 years of age. The Hastings Housing Resource Centre provides a housing registry and housing counselling for anyone 16 years of age and older.

Today, through our various programs and a dedicated staff of over 50 professionals, we provide confidential, professional services to over 10,000 people per year in the 6 communities we service in the Greater Quinte area.
