Self Employment
The Self-Employment Benefit Program provides financial assistance and business planning advice to individuals who want to start their own business. The financial assistance helps to cover living and other expenses during the initial stage of starting the business. Unemployed individuals who are on employment insurance or have recently been eligible for employment insurance may qualify.
Are you unemployed and thinking of changing careers? Does starting your own business sound like a good option for you? Could you benefit from help to turn your idea into a viable plan?

Build Your Own Business For Youth
Build Your Own Business is a new local initiative for youth age 15 – 29 who live in Hastings, Prince Edward or Lennox and Addington Counties.
Build Your Own Business helps youth and students gain business skills and learn about self-employment through training sessions and business mentoring. It assists youth with planning their business, accessing funding and supports them in launching their own company.
This program offers opportunities for youth, recent high school graduates and grade 9-11 students who meet the criteria set by their own high school. Build Your Own Business is operated by the East Central Ontario Training Board (ECOTB).
